Template:Preamble/doc

This template reads the Porn Base Data item linked to the current article and builds the lead sentence (preamble) in PBC style. It invokes Module:Preamble.

Usage

Place the template at the start of the article body, after the infobox:

The article must have a sitelink from its Porn Base Data item. Without that link the template cannot load the item. You can also pass an item id: {{preamble|from=Q1414}}.

Optional arguments:

• from / qid / eid — item id if the page is not linked
• nocat — do not add categories
• noref — do not emit Cite footnotes from PBD (for reuse outside articles, e.g. Main Page)
• nonotice — do not show the incomplete-preamble editor box
• debug — always show the property checklist (also shown when required properties are missing)

Other modules should call require('Module:Preamble')._main{ from = qid, nocat = 'yes', noref = 'yes', nonotice = 'yes' }. Without those flags the lead is unchanged.

Lead order

The sentence is built in this order from Porn Base Data.

Name and parenthetical

• name (P7) (required)
• aliases (P140) (optional) — shown as a.k.a.
• legal name (P753) / married name (P648) (optional) — real name
• birth name (P5) (optional) — birth name (born / né)
• name in native language (P13) (optional) — native-script name via lang-xx (for example Russian:)
• date of birth (P9) (optional) — date of birth
• place of birth (P20) (optional) — place of birth (linked)
• country of birth (P144) (required) — country of birth (linked)

Deceased people

If date of death (P247) is present, the verb is was; otherwise it is is.

• date of death (P247) (required when deceased) — date of death
• place of death (P23) (required when deceased) — place of death, plain text only (those categories are for births, not deaths)

The vital dates then look like: 3 November 1984, Russia — died 26 September 2024, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

Nationality, orientation, occupation

• nationality (P131) (required) — one or more nationalities (hyphenated when there are several, e.g. British-American)
• sexual orientation (P347) (optional) — sexual orientation
• occupation (P124) (required) — occupations. pornographic actor (Q160) is listed first; *model types are grouped at the end (adult and glamour model)
• career (P154) (optional) — if the value is Retired (Q194) and the person is living and has Q160, the lead adds former before that occupation only. Deceased people use was and do not get former

If nationality is missing, a / an is taken from orientation or from the first occupation.

Categories

On main-namespace articles, category sitelinks from P20, P144, P131, P347 and P124 are added to the page. Place of death (P23) is never categorized this way.

Incomplete items

If a required property is missing (or the page has no item link), the template shows an editor notice listing what is missing and what is already filled, and adds [[Category:Articles with incomplete preamble]].
