Template:PBC category/doc

Usage

This template should be placed at the top of categories used in the administration of PBC rather than as part of the encyclopedia – for example, at the top of Category:PBC administration.

Parameters

The following descriptions assume the template is transcluded on a page in the Category namespace.

|shortcut=	Enables (a?) shortcut(s?) to the category to be displayed by the template... ("{{{shortcut1}}}" "{{{shortcut2}}}" "{{{shortcut3}}}" "{{{shortcut4}}}" "{{{shortcut5}}}"...?)
|hidden=true/yes/on	Causes the template to hide the page (the category), add it to Category:Hidden categories and to include a {{Hidden category}}-style message.
|tracking=true/yes/on	Causes the template to add the page (the category) to Category:Tracking categories and include a {{Tracking category}}-style message.1 To add a short description of the tracking category after the message, use |description=[short description].
|container=true/yes/on	Causes the template to add the page (the category) to Category:Container categories and include a {{Container category}}-style message.2
{{{1}}}  (first unnamed parameter)	Anything supplied as the template's first unnamed parameter will be placed immediately below it under the heading "Description".

• ¹ Category:Contents' categorisation and Category:Tracking categories self-categorisation is prevented by setting |tracking_category=false/no/off.
• ² Category:Container categories's self-categorisation is prevented by setting |container_category=false/no/off.

Result

This is a maintenance category, used for maintenance of the PBC. It is not part of the encyclopedia and contains non-article pages, or groups articles by status rather than subject. Do not include this category in content categories.

This is a tracking category. It builds and maintains a list of pages primarily for the sake of the list itself. They are not part of the encyclopedia's categorization scheme.

This category tracks pages tagged with {{Citation needed}}.

• This category is hidden on its member pages—unless the corresponding user preference (appearance → show hidden categories) is set.
• These categories can be used to track, build and organize lists of pages needing "attention en masse" (for example, pages using deprecated syntax), or that may need to be edited at someone's earliest convenience.
• These categories also serve to aggregate members of several lists or sub-categories into a larger, more efficient list (discriminated by classifications).
