About this board

Diego Sans wrote that he is "half Lebanese and half Italian" [source: onlyfans/user/diegosans/post/1788924], therefore his ethnicity (his race) should be Caucasian, not Latin. I tried to modify the entry on PornBaseData, but there was no Edit button for me.

Yeah, I mean, the Lebanese part might be believable, sure. But still, that doesn’t meet the criteria to change his listed ethnicity from Latin to Caucasian. When stuff gets ambiguous like this, the standard is to visually assess which physical traits match which ethnicity for that specific person. And in this case, he clearly matches the typical Latin American features and not the ones usually associated with Caucasian.

Also - super important - any claims like that (self statements) need to be verified. Rule #1 of porn: everybody lies.

As for PBD, that’s kinda weird. The page isn’t protected or anything, and there shouldn’t be any restrictions on editing it.

Thanks, noted!

In PBD, i can see the edit button for the description box ("Property label, description and aliases") but not for the dozens of underlying statements.

Additionally, i want to argue that the word "ethnicity" is inaccurate to designate race. As noted on Wiktionary, "ethnicity is used as a euphemism for the sensitive term race"; it normally relates exclusively to culture or language [1]. French anthropologist Vacher de Lapouge had coined the word "ethnie" in 1896 as a cultural category to limit the word race to its biological meaning.

Ethnicity = cultural category = Caucasian (Georgian, Dagestani), Volga German, French-Canadian, etc. Race = biological category = Caucasoid (Nordic Caucasoid, Mediterranean Caucasoid), Mongoloids, Congoids, etc.

On some PBC pages, it is really confusing. In the infobox of Markus Vertigo, it says "Caucasian"; since he was born in Krasnodar, i asked myself if he was a Cherkess...

you're totally right that ethnicity and race aren't the same thing, and that the way they're used (especially in the US) can be kind of messy.

On PBC, the Ethnicity field is basically used the way it’s commonly understood in modern social/cultural contexts more like a stand-in for race than for cultural background. So yeah when we list Caucasian, we mean “white person of European descent” not someone from the actual Caucasus region (like a Circassian or Georgian).

Same goes for other entries like Black, Asian, Hispanic, etc. they reflect broad social identity categories, not precise genetic or anthropological classifications.

The Nationality field is mainly about citizenship or country of origin but sometimes we include ancestral roots too (like Italian-American) if that’s a big part of someone's identity.

You're absolutely right that this can get confusing, especially with places like Krasnodar or the Caucasus in general, where identity is more nuanced. It's something we've thought about, but the current setup is kind of a compromise between technical accuracy and what most users intuitively understand.

That said it might be up for debate in the future if there's more interest in shifting to a stricter, science-based classification system. But for now, not many on the admin side are pushing for that

PBD:

Here are a few things that might be causing this:

Tor or VPN Block: If you’re using Tor or a VPN the site might be limiting what you can edit due to a security setting (TorBlock). Try switching to a regular internet connection and see if the edit buttons show up. Item-Specific Restrictions: Some items might be locked or have special rules that prevent editing statements. Since you didn’t mention which item (Q number) you’re working on. Browser Glitch: Sometimes the site’s interface can act funky and the edit buttons might not load properly. Try clearing your browser’s cache, using a different browser, or refreshing the page to see if that fixes it. Account Permissions: Even if most people can edit your account might not have full editing rights for statements (maybe you’re not logged in or your account is new?). Double-check that you’re logged in and maybe try editing a different item to test.
